Titan Fitness Leg Press Hack Squat Machine Review

Intro

Hey guys welcome to The Jungle Gym YouTube Review and today, I am going to be reviewing the Titan Fitness - Leg Press and Hack Squat Combo.

Functionality

So, let’s get right into it. This machine is very easy to setup and swap between either movements.

Extremely simple, just like every other leg press you have ever used at the gym, where you put the weight on the weight horns, sit in the seat, unlock the carriage and you’re ready to press or hack squat.

It has 3 different levels to start from depending on the user height. However, one big gripe about this machine is the lack of depth for both the leg press and the hack squat at the bottom position. For shorter users people with very deep range of motion, you will need to improvise a solution to stop from hitting the rubber depth stoppers. For leg press, mine was to add an extra back pad had laying around from an old bench. And for hack squat, I have seen people put yoga blocks under the shoulder pad on top or add bumper plates or wood blocks to the hack squat bottom platform to increase the allowed range of motion.

One other thing I wanted to point out is that that the foot plate does not adjust it angle for leg press, there is only one locking position up and one down, and ideally I would prefer some in between options for the user to find the right biomechanical angle for them. In this case it would interfere with the design and location of the hack squat back support pads, so I understand why it is the way it is.

Overall Rating:

Functionality: 7.5

Features/Design: 7

Fit/Finish: 8.5

Value: 7

Overall: 7.5

The overall fit and finish is in line with Titan Fitness’ other products and adequate for home gym use. If you are interested in exact manufacturer specifications like footprint, weight capacity, unit weight, etc. head over to Titan’s website for the most up to date information including pricing. After using this machine in my training for several months, I can say it does provide a GOOD value for the price, but I wouldn’t say it’s a GREAT value. For $1800 brand new, I honestly would look towards buying a used version of this machine or a comparable one, as at least in my area you can find something similar for $800-1200 dollar range which is how I personally found this machine. If you don’t need the hack squat you could opt for the Walmart Balance From/Signature Fitness leg press which is delivered for $1000 and is an exact copy of the older commercial version Precor Icarian leg press.

Final Thoughts

So In the end, There could always be improvements to Titan’s design, such as allowing a further range of motion or having and angled leg press foot plate, but that would cause them to sink more money, time, energy, effort into a proven design at a fair price point, for which I am sure there are R&D and price reasonings for such decisions.
